Laura Totenhagen’s effects-laden vocalisation work uses technology to de-humanise her expression. Laura filters her voice through effects to transform it into an electronic sound, and uses it like a synthesised instrument to create sparse and durational compositions. Like her solo vocal performance, these electronic manipulations strive towards liberation from musical rules and patriarchal shackles.
