Working with players including trumpeter Pablo Gīw, bass player Farida Amadou, pianist Eve Risser, violinist Maria Reich and cellist Mariel Roberts, Laura Totenhagen creates dark, textural, non-hierarchical landscapes in which her (manipulated) vocals are one character among many. A contrasting complement to her meticulous solo practice, these performances embrace immediacy and collaboration.
